The International Transmission Asset Management Study (ITAMS) is a Global Learning Collaborative conducted every two years by OHROS Consulting Group. ITAMS is a study of Asset Management as a management discipline and assesses the full organizational context needed to perform value-based Asset Management. ITAMS creates insights into leading practices for improving the effectiveness (added value) of Asset Management and is aligned to ISO 55001.
The ITAMS program addresses the tactical dimensions of Asset Management, systematically evaluating performance within four critical domains: Operating Model, Processes, Competencies, and Information Management & Enabling Technology. Furthermore, the program conducts a comprehensive assessment of key figures and KPIs to determine the effectiveness of Asset Management in relation to operational performance.

• Benchmarks members against peers, both Asset Management practices and results (value realization).
• Indicates, based on hard data, where there is room for improvement and where companies are “best practice”, allowing them to develop a roadmap for improvement/ change.
• Helps companies to understand contemporary challenges (Energy Transition, Digitalization, Resilience) associated with investment planning, regulations and how peers respond to these.
• Allows companies to demonstrate they are best in class (excellent according to ISO 55001) and illustrate their excellence to the board and certifying authorities.
• Is inspirational by sharing and discussing best practices with peers, facilitated by an independent subject matter expert.

Each cycle is concluded with a results conference. Peers meet to share practices for networking and common learning. Main findings and data are presented, followed by Q&A’s and round table discussions. The event has an interactive character and also offers time for social functions and networking opportunities.
Over 30 Transmission System Operators worldwide have participated in the past seven cycles. Former participants highly appreciated their participation in ITAMS and confirmed that ITAMS:
– Measure its asset management performance and effectiveness on the ISO5001 scale, indicating compliance with ISO 55001
– Provide a management agenda and creates an improvement roadmap for asset management practice and system.
– Is inspirational by sharing and discussing best practices and creating a network of peers offering free consultancy
OHROS Consulting schedules a fresh cycle for ITAMS every second year. More information can be found in the ITAMS tearsheet.
